Abstract

We had to suffer the agony of loss as many colleagues succumbed to the severe acute respiratory syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS- CoV2). People were forced to stay home because of the lockdowns while many of us in the medical community had to go take care of the sick as they come in the thousands. This is happening as we fear for our own safety and that of our loved ones.

The focus shifted as we rushed to man the hospital in separate shifts, to man the COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 wards.

Many among us got sick or had to be quarantined. We had to suspend all research activities and even the biannual publication had to be delayed. The challenges we faced as individuals and as a community will be never be fathomed but we pray for the time when we could see each other again and for this pandemic to be over.

The vaccine for the SARS-CoV2 has just started to be released as of this writing and we look forward to a protected 2021 and beyond. Be safe everyone!
